For first timers we recommend the following cities:

BEIJING

Beijing is the Chinese capital and a city of everlasting charm.  In fact, few cities in the world can match Beijing for its myriad of captivating sites.  As the capital for 34 emperors over 600 years, the city is teeming with relics from the past, including magnificent palaces, elegant gardens, cultural relics and fascinating art works.  Beijing is a vibrant city of 15 million inhabitants that is rich in culture and history.  Some of Beijings many attractions include The Great Wall, Summer Palace (an Imperial Garden in Beijing), Temple of Heaven (an Imperial Sacrificial Altar in Beijing), Imerial Tombs of the Ming and Quing Dynasties and so much more.

SHANGHAI

Shanghai is an exciting and dynamic metropolis of 16 million inhabitants located at the mouth of China's Yangtze River.  Since 1842, the city has grown into a massive international port that has attracted people from around the globe.  Many people visit Shangai for its world-class shopping found on Nanjing Road which is Shanghai's world-famous shopping paradise.

XIAN

Xian is considered the most important city in northeast China.  Sourrounded by hills and mountains this 3000 year old walled city is a living, breathing museum of China's past.  A discovery 35 years ago revealed a pit of life-sized warriors-none of which are identical-and their accompanying terra cotta horses and chariots.  Today 8,000 warriors have been found making it the "largest underground military museum in the world."   A fascinating city to put on your list of must sees!
